Maroochy Waters is a waterfront, residential estate located in Maroochydore adjacent to the Maroochy River. It is one of the last canal projects to be built in Queensland with direct access to the river system and there won’t be any other development that will be able to tap directly into the river.
The canals plus all infrastructure were built in three stages in the late 1970s, mid 1980s, and the early 1990s that’s why there is a diversity of homes. We’re at a stage where homes that are being knocked down and rebuilt.
It’s an area that is going through a transformation stage – it’s 'Noosa Waters’ little brother for the reason that it has easy river access and access to the ocean by way of the sand bar like Noosa. It’s a far cry from when the land was first released – back in the 70s it cost just $22,000 for a waterfront block and $18,000 for a dry block.
Many use the water from a boating point of view, and just as many have skis and paddle boats – there’s a really good cross-section. Maroochy Waters comes alive in the morning and in the late afternoon with all the paddlers, trainers and kids playing on the beach because it’s nice and safe.
